Why Not?

I just got home from visiting one of my favorite cities. I love Ann Arbor at night. It's funny because I seem to "love" a lot of different seemingly contridictory places. I love Okemos, and California, Washington DC and Suttons Bay, Lake Michigan and the desserts of the American southwest. In fact, I can't think of a place I have been that I haven't found to be in someway enchanting. I see it as both a blessing and a burden. It is so hard to be torn between wanting to settle in one place and loving so many places. It is even harder to be inundated with other's opinions of favorites that seem to negate my love of all places. But it is also wonderful to be satisfied and indeed enthralled at all of the world around me. I am so excited to explore and learn. I do this all with my feet planted firmly in reality. I understand the difficulties we face and the errors that have been made. I know about the problems that plague our world. But I chose optimism. I chose to believe that we are capable of so much because we humans have already done so very much positive.
Some people see things as they are and say why.
I dream things that never were and say why not?
