A Dreamer

I am still in recovery from my trip. I am fully exhausted and still trying to process all that it was. Kristi and I traded pictures today so when I am feeling like it I may post some of hers that I like. Other than that I had a class today with Stanley Gaines who is one of the other professors on my course. I really liked him. He brings a ethnic perspective to culture which I think is more along the lines of how I think of culture (as opposed to geopolitical). I really probably am somewhere in the middle, my mind has a model of culture that includes many things including ethnicity and nationality. But it was a good class and I am excited to talk to him more. So far of all of the professors I have met I have connected the most with him and at this point would choose Stan as my dissertation supervisor. He seems very open to new ways of thinking about Cross-Cultural Psychology and eager to keep the field evolutionary.

I have been thinking a lot about my dissertation in the last few days and got really excited about it today. I am thinking of doing an exploration of the psychology of peaceful and/or non-violent solutions to political conflict and what makes them successful across cultures. Asking questions like what kind of cultures foster these movements? Which have seen success? That kind of thing.

Well folks I am tired and drained after all that writing yesterday, so I am going to head to bed. I leave you with words from a good man; despite, and maybe because of his flaws...

A very Merry Xmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear

War is over, if you want it

War is over now

-John Lennon, Merry Xmas (WAR IS OVER)-
